Eylea Injections

Eylea (aflibercept) is the latest anti-VEGF drug that is used to treat wet macular degeneration.  VEGF is a protein that causes new blood vessel growth, bleeding, leakage and swelling of the macula that causes loss of vision.  Eylea is given as an injection into the interior vitreous cavity of the eye.  It has also been shown to be effective in the treatment of diabetic retinopathy and retinal vein occlusion.
