Associate Professor Samantha Fraser-Bell specialises in medical retinal conditions including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease and retinal vascular diseases, such as retinal vein occlusion.
After graduating from medicine with first class honours from the University of New South Wales in 1997, Associate Professor Fraser-Bell undertook Ophthalmology training at Sydney Eye Hospital. Research from a postgraduate Research Fellowship at the Doheny Eye Institute in Los Angeles led to the award of a Doctor of Philosophy in degenerative macular disease from the University of Sydney. She completed clinical fellowships in Medical Retina and Uveitis at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London.
Samantha Fraser-Bell is an Associate Professor in the discipline of Ophthalmology, University of Sydney, a Visiting Medical Officer at Royal North Shore and a Staff Specialist at Sydney Eye Hospital, where she is investigator for many leading retinal trials. Since 2008, she has been Medical Retina Subeditor for the journal, Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology.
